THE COTTAGE BOOK
Dear Guest,
We are happy that you chose Nature’s Return for your visit to Nags Head.  We hope that the cottage is comfortable and convenient in every way and that your visit will be fully enjoyable.

Before you leave if you have any suggestions please take a few minutes to complete Suggestions form. Your suggestions are fully welcome. Also make a note, if you will, in the guest book and tell us about your stay.  This reassures us that our efforts have been successful and may suggest enjoyable activities to other guests.

We are continually making improvements for your comfort and enjoyment. Please take one of my cards, and keep up with upcoming enhancements through either of my websites:

Telephone
There is no land line as generally all guests use cell phones these days. Please be sure we have your cell phone number in case we need to contact you.

For internet service, if you have an air card your computer will find our wireless connection, mwnwireless. The security code is xxxxxxxxxx  (The actual code is printed in the print-out of the Cottage Book on the entry table.)  Please give me a call if you have difficulties with this service. Select HP Deskjet Basic Driver

Kitchen
The kitchen is small but surprisingly efficient once you get used to it; its small size saves many steps. There are lights under the cabinets above the sink and beneath the corner cabinet.   Reach under to find the buttons.   Note tools for grill hanging inside the kitchen by the door.

As I enjoy cooking and experimenting in the kitchen I hope you have what you need to prepare and serve whatever you want. I welcome suggestions of other items which you would like to see included.

My friends the Alexanders make the nice stoneware bowls and will make things to order. Their card is on the entry table.

A request: Please use CreamaBrite and/or water to clean the glass stovetop, no Fantastic or other household cleaners.   These leave a film on the glass and corrode it.

Garbage collection
You will need to roll the garbage can back the morning after collection, particularly on Monday as we will no doubt take it out to the street on Sunday.   For easy to access from the kitchen, it rests in the corner next to the ramp beside the hose, facing the house.

Summer Schedule (Begins 3rd Monday in May)
Collection begins 3am
Monday, Wednesday, Saturday

Winter Schedule (Begins last Monday in September)
Collection begins 5am
Monday and Friday

Dining
To expand the round table there are two leaves standing up in the supply closet. Use one or both to make it large enough to seat six or eight comfortably.   Table mats are in the drawer in the front entry table.

Okay so it’s not a Steinway, but it lives at the beach which is a terrible place for a piano, but we do keep it in tune. Because the piano is raised higher than normal on large rollers a heel rest is needed for use with the pedal. You will find a brick on the floor near the pedal for that purpose.

Supplies
Extra cleaning and paper supplies and charcoal for the grill (to keep it dry) are in the closet beside the piano.   Toward the back on the floor there are also a couple of large roasting pans, too large for the kitchen.   There are also a battery powered lantern (and extra batteries) in case you loose electricity.

First Aid items-- bandaids, antiseptic ointment, rubbing alcohol, and sunburn relief are in a box in the cabinet under the bathroom lavatory.   Toilet paper is also in that cabinet.   Note that behind the mirror above the lavatory is nature’s medicine cabinet.

·Laundry soap is in the cabinet above the washer and dryer. We provide supply items for your convenience.
·Two Turkish bathrobes are hanging behind the door of the center bedroom which are fun to use on cool nights when you use the hot tub. If you use them please leave them in the laundry basket to be washed.
·There are summer blankets in upper cabinets in the all the bedrooms.
·Extra batteries for the remote are in the top drawer of the desk by the back door.

Artwork
Regarding sales of the artwork, we now have a selection of prints in the box on the wall next to the master bedroom for anyone who may be interested, and the framed prints on the wall above the blue couch are also available.   The unframed prints in the box are $50.00 each.     The framed prints on the wall are $125 for the 16x20 ones, $90 for the smaller ones.   These prices are 10-15% lower than gallery prices.

If you are interested in any of these, just take it with you and leave me a note with check in the inside flap of the Cottage Book. If you need others email me and I can send to you.   A pricelist of the framed paintings on the other walls is available upon request. Enjoy!

Outside
Hot tub cover -- To remove and replace, double it over toward the house then slip it off to rest between the side of the tub and the two vertical posts.    Additional outside chairs, a croquet set, badmitton, and a few beach toys are in the storage next to the outside shower.   Tents are not permitted. Please clean up after your dog in the yard for the sake of subsequent guests,

If you are curious, the Chinese scroll in the back bedroom says, according to my daughter-in-law who is from China
“MONEY.    Be peaceful and not get angry will generate money, we should all try to follow this saying.”

Check-out
Check out is at 10:00 am and we hope you will check out on time so that the cottage may be properly cleaned and inspected for the next renters.

Please leave the cottage clean
Wash dishes, clean kitchen and bathroom.
Leave beds which were used unmade.  They must be stripped and remade for subsequent guests anyway.
    Vacuum and/or sweep floors.

Lock all doors and windows and leave both keys inside the cottage on the entry room table.

HAVE A GREAT VACATION!
